Collaboration between industry, government, academia and citizen. “Isumi city originating Boso lifestyle project” commenced.

On November 11, 2015 (Wed), we participated in the workshop of a collaboration project between Isumi city and Musashino Art University Design lounge (D-LOUNGE) in Akasaka, Tokyo. (Event site: Isumi city hall)

This workshop was a part of the project in which they unearth and inform the public the attractiveness of Isumi and find out issues and solutions.
As this was a project among industry, government, academia and citizen, backgrounds of participants were varied.

Academia: Musashino Art University Design lounge (D-LOUNGE)

Government: Isumi city and Community-Reactivating Cooperator Squad

Industry: Concent, Inc., a design company that design the “shape of communication” (Dr. Atsushi Hasegawa, President, is a lecturer of Musashino Art University)

Citizen: Isumi Lifestyle Laboratories and Isumi citizens

Staff member of Concent, Inc. acted as facilitators.

Participants were divided in 3 groups and had group work.

Member of Community-Reactivating Cooperator Squad, Isumi citizen, or staff of Isumi lifestyle Lab joined in each group.

They exchanged information, discussed opinions, and considered ideas.

While participants were doing group work, Professor Inokuchi (left) from Department of Design Informatics as well as Director of D-LOUNGE had a pleasant talk with Mr. Hayakawa (right), Councillor of Isumi city.

Participants presented results of each group work.

After they shared the discussion details, they had a further work to link them to the field work, and the task was finished for the day.

Starting with this workshop, they will have interviews with citizen and further workshops, and the final result presentation will be held in March in D-LOUNGE at Akasaka, Tokyo.

As collaboration projects with universities, we have accepted some students for field work in the past. This time however, we support the previous step, in some ways, support development of teaching material or development of basic research. It is the first experience for us Isumi lifestyle Laboratories and we are excited.

Participated in “Chiba CSR summit 2015” as a panelist

Our chairperson Ms. Takahara participated in “Chiba CSR summit 2015 – The wisdom to survive post-2020” at Chiba city business support center on October 20, 2015, Tuesday.

This summit meeting was held to create an opportunity to consider the system to collaborate between citizen, company, and government in order to make our future regional community sustainable.

“In order to solve regional problems such as population decrease, aging population and lower birth rate, exhausted regional economy, and destruction of natural environment, every one of us who live in the regional community need to become aware of our social responsibility (SR). Each individual sector brings back what they can do to complement each other to solve problems in the regional community, which results in the enhancement of the value of the region.
We will consider what we need now especially to face the influence on the regional economy after Tokyo Olympic in 2020 and regional challenges that is becoming complex and diverse and to create the sustainable regional community. We will seek the wisdom to survive post-2020 through each role of company, government, and citizen from the view point of CSR.

Mr. Masaru Terada from Terada Honke Brewery, a moderator Mr. Tokuya Ariyoshi (Soken Group), and our chairperson Ms. Takahara were in preliminary discussion of the breakout session before the opening in the presenter waiting room.

Opening address was given by Mr. Kazuo Kamiko, a deputy manager of Chiba prefecture Commerce, industry and labor department.

After the opening, firsty, Mr. Noboru Sekiya, an associate professor who is also known as a commentator of “NEWS Chiba 930” as well as a chairperson of Chiba no WA Chiikizukuri Kikin (Chib no Wa community development fund), spoke with the title “Wisdom to survive post-2020 —The way regional community is shaped.”

Secondy, a CSR consultant Mr. Yoshitugu Izumi spoke with the title “Management capability of post-2020, where becmonig a company and NPO of choice is necessary.”

And then, breakout sessions were held after that.
Our chairperson Ms. Takahara gave a presentation of “Regional revitalization starting from citizens, How to create an attractive community ” at breakout session 5.

She had the privilege of having the session with Mr. Masaru Terada of Terada Honke Brewery who was a civil leader in Kouzaki-machi, where people work for developing attractive town and community as a “Hakko no Sato (Town of fermentation).”
They introduce their activities and its characteristics, and exchange opinions followed by question and answer session.

After the session, they had a post-conference party.

Somehow, a street entertainer showed his performance at the party…

Usually we seldom have an opportunity to receive feedback of our activities, but we were given encouraging words and feedback from the people inside and outside of Isumi city this day. That was stimulating.

We appreciate the member of an executive committee who kindly invited us to this meeting.

“Boso ‘Horoyoi’ Jamboree in Tokyo” was held on 26 August, 2015.

“Boso ‘Horoyoi’ Jamboree in Tokyo”was held at So-ken Social Salon in Shinkawa, Kayabacho neighborhood in Tokyo, on Wednesday August 26, 2015. It was a charity event for the PR of Boso Jamboree event and Boso area (Tateyama, Minamiboso, Kamogawa, and Isumi).

This time the event was Isumi version.

It was characterized as a promotion event of “Boso Jamboree Live by artists living in Boso for people who enjoy their life in Boso”, and the event started with Bossa-Nova play by Mr. Yoshio Yamabe and Fumitaka Ito, both of whom are active in Isumi.

After that, our members of Isumi Lifestyle Laboratories explained attractiveness of Isumi in order people in Tokyo to know about Isumi.

And then, Mr. Hayato Shoji from brewery Kidoizumi Shuzo and Ms. Haruka Takahide from Takahide Farm introduced and promoted their products of local sake and cheese, respectively as representative local foods in Isumi.

Afterward, we had a stand-up party to communicate each other, and participants enjoyed the sake and cheese, and pears and vegetables in their own way.

During the party, Mr. Yamato Okano, a chief editor of KamoZine and senior priest of Amatsu Shinmei Goo, and Ms. Ayako Kitamoto, a manager of ORCA Kamogawa FC, unofficially joined in the party. The party further warmed up.

In closing, we again enjoyed a Bossa-Nova live. Participants called for an encore, and the event finished in a relaxed atmosphere.

The MC of the event was Mr. Fuminori Shinagawa, a vice president of NPO Osekkai that is one of the executive committee of Boso Jamboree and a personality of local radio “Mina-radi”. He warmed up the event very well. (right in below photo)

We would like to express my gratitude to all the people participated in the event.

As it was a charity event, its profit that is defined as sales less the cost of sales will be donated to “Chiba no WA Chiikizukuri Kikin (Chib no Wa community development fund)” to be use for the activity of Boso Jamboree event.

We also would like to extend our appreciation to all the staffs of So-ken and Chiba no WA Chiikizukuri Kikin for their cooperation.
* So-ken provided us Soken Social Salon as the event venue. The salon is managed as a part of their CSR activity.
* Chiba no WA Chiikizukuri Kikin helps us rising funds for Boso Jamboree event.
