The Cheese in Isumi won Awards!

Japanese spiny lobster, Isumi rice…
There are many specialty products in Isumi.

Among those, “Cheese made in Isumi city” became a popular topic of our conversation between staffs as new specialty foods.
There are no less than 5 cheese factories in Isumi city, and each of them makes distinctive cheese using local (Isumi) milk.

Such Isumi cheese won awards at JAPAN CHEESE AWARD 2014!
The award winning cheeses are as follows:
・Gold Prize “Makiba no Taiyo” from cheese factory of Takahide farm
・Bronze Prize “Mozzarella Cheese” from cheese factory Yojuemon

The results are here (Website of Cheese Professional Association).

121 cheeses from 61 factories were nominated for the award, and I am very happy that cheeses from Isumi were selected among them.

I expect the further success of cheese factories in Isumi!!

7th Boso Star Market @Otaki was held.

The Boso Star Market was held on November 2, 2014 at Otaki Vegetable Ggarden.
It was beautiful weather the day, and lots of customers visited the event from the morning.

It smelled good with herbs and foods in the garden.

There are always some new shops participating in the market, so that you can enjoy this market each time.

The performance by the Wind Ensemble Club of local Otaki High School augmented the atmosphere.

A marionette show from Czech Republic was performed again!
Not only kids but adults were also enjoying the show.

We, the event staffs, also enjoyed shopping of the specialty goods and foods.

I ate a freshly-fried horse mackerel at a fisherman shop “Taku,” that often opens shop at Chimachi Market. It was tasty!!

There were also many kinds of workshops. The participants created a nice crafts.

You can just stop at the market for a while and enjoy, which may be an appeal of this event.
The next Star Market will be held in spring.
We will let you know once the date is fixed.

Kabocha (Pumpkin) Festa @ Isumi on October 25, 2014

Kabocha (Pumpkin) Festa was taken place at Dourakunosato (Misaki-chohi Kuwata, Isumi) again this year.
Flower signboard welcomed us at the entrance.

It was a sunny day and many people with kids also visited the festival.

Some kids were dressing up for Halloween and kids were all enjoying the festival.
I could see that they had longed for the day.

Shops sold flowers, vegetables, processed products with no additives, organic food, sweets, soft drink, etc., all made in Boso area.
They were all specialty products, and some people came to visit the festival to by them!

In this event, fine shops gather at one place, so you can choose what you like!

Some shops were from outside Isumi city, and there were new encounters.

There was a workshop event to make pumpkin lanterns which were used at night.
Everybody was worked seriously to make the lantern. It must have been a nice experience!

I’m very happy that more events are held these days in Isumi, where all the people from adults to kids can enjoy.

I look forward to the Halloween next year.
